1944 The company started its operations in the name of Kevytmetalli Oy. 1972 – 1975 Messukylän Metallivalimo Oy. 1976 The company was renamed Oy Johnson Metall Ab. The company was first owned by Hartmann von Wittzleben and Johnson Metall Ab. In 1976, the latter was bought by a financing corporation called Incentive Ab, to whom Mr Åke Johnson sold his shares.

Incentive sold the whole company to Svenska Metallverken Ab, owned by Electrolux Ab. Svenska Metallverken Ab then sold the whole capital stock to Outokumpu Oy in 1986. In 1995, Outokumpu sold the company to a financing corporation called Hexaxon Ab, which sold it to Norwegian Norvestor As, an investment company, in 2007.
